Our Doctors
Dr. Karen Wesson
Dr. Karen Wesson is a Board Certified Dermatologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She has been in private practice on Long Island since 2003. After completing her Bachelor of Science and graduating Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan, Dr. Wesson attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where she received her medical degree and graduated with special distinction in dermatology and genetic research. While a medical student, she completed an additional year at the NYU Department of Dermatology. Following a year of internship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Dr. Wesson completed her dermatology residency at Columbia University, St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. Dr. Wesson has clinical interest in the diagnosis and treatment of melanoma and other skin cancers. She has trained extensively in cosmetic dermatology procedures including Botox, injectable fillers, and laser surgery.
Dr. Lauren Hoffman
Lauren Hoffman, M.D., is a Board Certified, Fellowship Trained Dermatologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. After graduating Cum Laude from Barnard College, Dr. Hoffman completed her medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. There, she graduated with a Distinction in Research in Dermatology. After her internal medicine internship at Staten Island University Hospital, she returned to Albert Einstein College of Medicine/ Montefiore Medical Center where she completed her dermatology residency training, serving as Chief Resident in her final year. She further refined her skills through an advanced fellowship at UnionDerm in NYC, focusing on cosmetic, laser, and surgical dermatology. Dr. Hoffman has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed journals, participated in research trials for laser and energy-based devices, and presented at local and national professional meetings. Dr. Hoffman specializes in both general and cosmetic dermatology. She has training in performing injectables (neuromodulators, filler, platelet rich plasma (PRP)), laser procedures for skin resurfacing, blood vessels, brown spots, and scars, radiofrequency microneedling, and surgical treatment of skin cancers. She strives to understand each patient's unique needs and goals, and she combines her extensive medical knowledge with a personalized touch. Dr. Hoffman firmly believes in a natural aesthetic and approaches cosmetic procedures with a discerning eye, focusing on the individual anatomy and structure of each face. She is an active member of American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS), and Skin of Color Society (SOCS).
Soon to come, Dr. Charlotte Birnbaum
Charlotte Birnbaum, M.D., is a highly regarded board certified dermatologist practicing medical and cosmetic dermatology. She attended Cornell University followed by medical school at SUNY Downstate, where she graduated in the top 3% of her class and was elected to become a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Birnbaum completed her internship in internal medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital and her dermatology residency at SUNY Downstate, serving as chief resident in her final year. Dr. Birnbaum practices medical dermatology with a special interest in acne, rosacea, skin cancer, eczema, and psoriasis as well as cosmetic dermatology, using neurotoxins, fillers, chemical peels, and lasers. She is dedicated to improving and maintaining the health and beauty of her patients’ skin through a personalized and natural approach. Before moving to Long Island, Dr. Birnbaum practiced at top dermatology practices in New York City. She was named a New York Super Doctors Rising Star and has been published in numerous media outlets including Allure, Glamour, New York Magazine, CNN, and Shape magazine. In her free time, Dr. Birnbaum enjoys travel, tennis, and spending time with her husband and three children.
Our Staff Nurse
Meghan Billia, NP
Meghan Billia is a recent graduate of the Molloy College of Nursing. Prior to nursing school and throughout her nursing education, she has worked as a medical assistant in the field of dermatology. Meghan has worked alongside Dr. Wesson for 10 years and has a broad-based understanding of dermatologic conditions and their associated medical and surgical treatments. She is trained and certified in various laser and injectable procedures. Her medical training and experience has allowed her to be an asset in the exam rooms as well as a valuable resource for patients in terms of advice, recommendations, and education.
Our Aestheticians
Our MedSpa suite offers a full range of services including facial treatments, laser treatments for hair removal and skin imperfections as well as chemical peels and microdermabrasion. All services are performed by our certified and licensed aestheticians under the supervision of Dr. Karen Wesson.
Meaghan Furnari
Meaghan Furnari has spent the last ten years as a licensed Medical Aesthetician. She graduated from the AVEDA Institute of New York City in 2004. Prior to joining our staff in September of 2012, Meaghan worked as a lead laser technician for American Laser Centers and Smoothbody Laser Center. Meaghan is committed to the highest level of patient care and offers the latest in facial aesthetic treatments. She educates her clients on product knowledge and customizes a treatment plan for each individual. She is dedicated to each client’s happiness and satisfaction. Meaghan also works side by side as a medical assistant to Dr. Wesson, where she accompanies her in the examination rooms. This experience helps broaden her knowledge of skin disorders and therapy and compliments her ability to choose the correct treatment for each client.
